Kitchen renovations in Auckland, managed end to end

A new kitchen involves more trades than any other room in the house. We coordinate all of them, around the lead times that usually cause delays.

A typical kitchen renovation brings together a designer, kitchen manufacturer, builder, plumber, electrician, benchtop fabricator, tiler, plasterer and painter. Each depends on the one before. When the order slips, the job stalls and your temporary kitchen in the laundry stays for another fortnight.

Refiner plans the job around the slowest items first. Cabinetry and stone benchtops often take 6 to 10 weeks to arrive, so they're ordered as soon as the design is signed off, and the on-site work is booked to meet them.

Questions

How long does a kitchen renovation take in Auckland?

Allow 6 to 10 weeks of planning, mostly cabinetry and benchtop lead times, and 3 to 6 weeks on site. We order long-lead items early so trades aren't waiting on them.

Does a new kitchen need building consent?

Replacing cabinetry, benchtops and appliances in the same layout usually doesn't. Removing or altering a load-bearing wall, or significant changes to drainage, usually does. We confirm this before you commit.

Can I use my own kitchen company?

Yes. If you already have a kitchen designer or manufacturer you like, we coordinate them with the builder, plumber, electrician and other trades.

Can we keep cooking during the work?

We can set up a temporary kitchen with a sink and power for small appliances in most homes, and we sequence the job to keep the time without a kitchen as short as possible.
